This is one of my favorite locations to visit for a number of wonderful reasons!
- The Snyder Estate is a beautiful well kept property with wonderful trails & of course the abandoned but not so abandoned mines.
- Only 1 hour and 47 minutes from New York City!
- Worthy location to check out for any weekend trips to the area.
- The walk to the mine is fast & leisurely.
- Parking is fast but limited and can get a bit muddy so make sure you wear your hiking boots! And make sure to bring another pair of shoes in case you get a bit too muddy.
- It is a great place for the kids and the pups! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many great dogs on my adventures here, just make sure they are on a leash.
- When you enter the mines it feels as though you’ve been teleported into a distant and magical place.
- A great spot to sit and have lunch with friends & family! I’ve yet to bring any snacks here but I plan on doing so in the future! Just please make sure you clean up after yourself!!This goes for ANYWHERE outdoors that you visit and bring garbage into, let’s keep our beautiful Hudson Valley clean & safe!
- AMAZING photo opportunities! ( see below for some of mine!) haha, get it 😏
- Located in the beautiful town of Rosendale, NY (very close to the famous Rosendale Trestle which is very much worth visiting as well & since it’s sooo close why not!)
- Not far from New Paltz, NY ( great food for before or after your grand adventure. As well as many more lovely locations to explore!)
- The short but worthwhile trip leaves a lot of time to keep exploring the grounds of the Snyder Estate or you could continue your exploration elsewhere in the many wonderful close by areas in the Hudson Valley!
Below are a few of my photographs that I took the day of my trip, as well as a short video recorded on my drone! ( I’m still really new! I’ll get better I promise!)
